Do you accept my dental insurance?
Yes. We accept Delta Dental, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Aetna, United Concordia, MetLife, Guardian, and Humana. Before your appointment, we verify your specific coverage and tell you exactly what's covered and what your out-of-pocket cost will be — before any treatment starts. If your plan isn't listed, call us and we'll check directly with your carrier.
What does the $99 new patient special include?
The $99 offer covers a comprehensive dental examination and a full series of digital X-rays. That's everything we need to understand your current dental health and build a treatment plan. There are no required follow-up purchases and no upsells attached. It's the right first step if you haven't seen a dentist recently.
I have dental anxiety — how do you handle that?
Dental anxiety is more common than most patients realize, and our practice is genuinely set up for it. Dr. James Okonkwo is certified in oral sedation and uses a narrated, step-by-step approach — explaining exactly what's happening before it does. Appointments are never rushed. If you need a break or want to stop, you say so. Most anxious patients tell us their visit here was meaningfully different from what they'd experienced before.
Do you offer payment plans or financing?
Yes. For treatment totaling $500 or more, we offer CareCredit financing at 0% interest for 12 months on approved credit. We also coordinate insurance benefits in full so you know your exact portion before anything begins. In-house payment arrangements are available for qualifying treatment plans — ask our front desk when you book.
How long does a new patient appointment take?
Plan for 75 to 90 minutes. That includes intake paperwork, a full set of X-rays, the clinical exam, and a sit-down review of what we found. We don't rush it. If you have specific concerns or anxiety about any part of the process, mention it when you book and we'll adjust the structure of your visit accordingly.
Do you have evening or Saturday appointments?
Weekday hours run Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Saturday hours are 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Saturday slots fill quickly — book at least a week in advance if that's your only availability. We don't currently offer Sunday hours.
What's the difference between dental bonding and veneers?
Bonding applies tooth-colored composite resin directly to the tooth in a single visit — it's less expensive, reversible, and a good option for minor chips or gaps. Veneers are custom porcelain shells permanently bonded to the front surface of the tooth — more durable and stain-resistant, but they require removing a thin layer of enamel. Bonding starts at $275; veneers from $950 per tooth. We'll walk through which option fits your situation and budget before recommending anything.
How often should I get a professional cleaning?
Every six months for most adults. If you have a history of gum disease, significant tartar buildup, or systemic conditions that affect oral health — such as diabetes or certain heart conditions — every three to four months is more appropriate. Your hygienist will give you a specific recommendation at your first cleaning based on what she finds.
