Summit Air & Heat started with one truck and one idea: Denver homeowners deserve a straight answer before they spend a dollar on HVAC. 14 years later, that hasn’t changed.

Todd Mercer founded Summit Air & Heat in 2011 after nearly a decade working as a field technician for a large regional HVAC company. The problem he kept seeing: honest diagnosis came second to upselling. Homeowners were being pushed toward new equipment when a $200 repair would have solved the problem for another 5 years.
Summit launched with a different rule: give the customer the honest answer first, even if it means a smaller ticket. That reputation spreads. Todd went from one truck in his driveway to a seven-tech operation serving the full Denver metro — all through referrals and repeat customers.
Today Summit handles everything from emergency furnace calls at midnight to full HVAC system replacements with heat pump retrofits. The trucks are newer. The rule is the same.

Owner & Lead Technician
Todd spent 8 years as a field technician for a large regional HVAC contractor before founding Summit in 2011. He watched too many customers get upsold on equipment they didn't need. Summit was built on a different premise: diagnose honestly, fix what's fixable, replace only when it makes financial sense. NATE-certified, 22 years in the trade.
Priya Okonkwo
Senior HVAC Technician
Priya joined Summit in 2016 and handles the majority of residential AC installs and ductwork assessments. She completed her HVAC certification at Emily Griffith Technical College and holds a NATE certification in air distribution. Denver homeowners regularly request her by name.
Luke Vargas
HVAC Technician & Installation Specialist
Luke specializes in heat pump systems and complex retrofit installs — the jobs where the existing ductwork doesn't cooperate and creative problem-solving matters. He runs most of the mini-split and Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat installations and is the team lead on new construction HVAC.
